The retailer’s assessment was simple. After fifty years of loyal service, the trolley needed a facelift. Apart from the introduction of plastic five years ago, it had hardly changed. “We became aware of the expectations and frustrations of users when we worked two years ago on the reinvention of the hypermarket, explains Philippe Picaud. The trolley was aging, it was not anymore the object that clients were proud to use for shopping in the 1960′s, in the new temples of consumption.”
